Jc Net Meter is a Windows tool to test and analyze the speed of your Internet connection.

Jc Net Meter is a tool for Windows that lets you test an Internet connection. The program only received official support for Windows XP, NT and 2000 but should run in newer versions natively or via compatibility model. Jc Net Meter is freeware, which means that you can download, install and use the application as much as you like without paying anything at all.

The software has a small footprint on disk and in memory. It is very light on resources overall, and if you want to have it start with Windows so that it is monitoring your connection at all times, there is not any downside to that. Jc Net Meter downloads in real-time, so when you view the data that the program is collecting, that is the data being collected in that moment.

Jc Net Meter is basically a dialog box with four tabs: Connection, General, Graph and Statistics. Connection is where you configure the app by dictating the network interface to monitor. From there, the program can make some assumptions about your connection, or you can dial down further and actually specify details such as connection speed and the unit of measure you want displayed.

General provides you additional customization options. The program is highly customizable, and you can choose between 2D and 3D graphs, set the program to start with Windows and more. Graph and statistics show you the information that Jc Net Meter is collecting. The Statistics page provides you the raw numbers, and the Graph page presents them in a visual manner.

Jc Net Meter also preserves much of the data that it collects as it runs. So, while Graph and Statistics let you view the information being collected in the moment, you can choose between Summary, Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly. The program also provides numerous options to view that data through specific lenses that may be appropriate to what you are seeking to determine.

Perhaps the biggest knock against Jc Net Meter is that there are Web tools available now that provide a similar service and do not require installation. One way that Jc Net Meter distinguishes itself is logging capabilities. It is useful to build up a history and be able to check performance this time last week, month or even year. Unfortunately, Jc Net Meter has some peculiar omissions in terms of what it records, and one particularly glaring omission is download speed.
